Sewing Spaces: This giveaway is huge, I say. Huge. November 3, 2010 17:37 312 Comments
Here it is: The giveaway that takes the cake. It does. In fact, I want to keep this giveaway for myself. Every single item. Yes, indeed. But I refuse to give in to such a selfish impulse. I do.
This is an amazing giveaway. It is. Totally. Completely. It includes:
Colette's gorgeous Crepe pattern. It's sweet. It's easy. It has that 1940s flair. And perhaps best of all, it's for beginners! Aren't you happy about that, fledglings? I am.
Next, Ann of Gorgeous Fabrics is generously supplying the fabric to make your Crepe frock. And it's not just any fabric. No. It isn't. It is luscious royal navy wool crepe. Think how wonderful it will feel.
And Sunni, the Cupcake Goddess herself, has made a cute pin cushion especially for our very lucky winner. It's the cherry size, yes, the one right on the tip top. It is so adorable.
But there's more. Really: Revlon Cherries in the Snow lipstick and nail polish. True vintage colors introduced in 1953. This color was a cult best seller in the 1950s, and it's just as glamorous today.
So. You are surely asking: How do I enter? How? Well. It's easier than baking a cake. And quicker. Just leave a comment. Amuse me. Tell me why you want to win. Tell me if you read the blog regularly. Let me know what you like best about Sewing Spaces. Do so by Tuesday, November 9 at 5 pm PDT. Then I'll use a random number generator to pick the winner. And someone will be getting a very fabulous package in the mail.
And a warm-and-toasty thank-you to Sarai of Colette patterns, Ann of Gorgeous Fabrics and Sunni of The Cupcake Goddess for making this terrific giveaway possible!

I adore your Sewing Spaces posts because I am finally considering coming out of the closet. Literally, my sewing space is inside my hall closet! Now that my DD is off my payroll and on her own I am planning to convert her room into a Blue Gardenia worthy sewing space. The trouble is that I am finding it difficult to come up with a final plan/design because each week offers up new inspiration.
As for the giveaway, I am a makeup artist by trade, and Cherries in the Snow will make a wonderful addition to my makeup kit. Thanks for providing such entertaining reading.
Margaret on May 20, 2015 11:22
Oh PLEASE pick me! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pick me!!
Donna S on May 20, 2015 11:22
Where to begin … I love all the giveaways from the sassy little dress pattern to the Revlon lipstick and nail polish. The fabric is gorgeous and the pin cushion … well, who couldn’t use another pin cushion and this one is sew cute. Sewing Spaces is a great place to visit for inspiration and I love checking out the sewing rooms (my sewing area is quite messy and in disarray). And you … well I love your writing style as it is always amusing and your enthusiasm has a way of lifting my spirits and makes me smile. I’ll be sitting on pins and needles just waiting to see if I am lucky enough to win this wonderful giveaway!!!
sarah on May 20, 2015 11:22
I read by coming here at least once a week — why do I come? Because I have NO sewing space (I sew in the corner of the dining room and have to put everything completely away when I finish each session) but hope to in my next house, so I look for ideas. Why do I want to win? Because I can already tell this winter will be bleak here, and I need a pick-me up!
Tania Grüning on May 20, 2015 11:22
I would love all the items. I am a relatively inexperienced seamstress and that pattern looks like something that will be flattering on me. I love seeing how people arrange their sewing spaces. Gives me ideas and dreams.

So what do you get when you cross an elephant with a fish? Swimming Trunks!!
Okay, it’s a groaner, but I love silly jokes. Add me to the drawing too please…
Noile on May 20, 2015 11:22
I’ve been having fantasies about taking a day in the 1950s and living it to the hilt . . . this might be just the dress in which to do it! (And the blog to do it with!)
Tricia on May 20, 2015 11:22
Wow that is a fabulous prize. Thank you for doing this Sewing Spaces series, it has really inspired me to do more with my space. Plus it is so fun to see more of my favorite bloggers’ spaces.
Lucia on May 20, 2015 11:22
Hi,
I started to sew in August…and now it has bacome an obsession to me!! I love to sew, it relaxes me, it keeps my mind away for some hours…
I am allready a follower of Gertie’s blog…
About your blog?I won’t change anything…it’s perfect!! :)
Well, fingers crossed!!
rosemary boyling on May 20, 2015 11:22
I like sewing spaces for many reasons:
how unique each artist is in managing time, studio space and storage of supplies.
I enjoy the profiles of the artists.
Also I have a dress form that I have not been using and I have problems with fitting my body so the blog has shown me the error of my ways. Most of all I enjoy peeping into the studios to see the layout, color and equipment used.
I am a quilter and a seamstress and I enjoy learning from others.
Rosemary

I would really love that dress pattern and the wool fabric to make myself a warm and beautiful dress to wear during the very cold and snowy Canadian winter. Style shouldn’t have to be sacrificed just because its freezing outside.
Amy Oleinik on May 20, 2015 11:22
Your sewing spaces entries are wonderful. I always include your site in my blog browsings. In fact, the sewing space of Ann of Gorgeous Fabrics is the inspiration of my own sewing room. I just moved into a new house, and for the first time have my own sewing room!!! Sew exciting. I also am a regular follower of Gertie, so would of course love to win the giveaway. Thanks for the super opportunity! Amy:)
Lauren on May 20, 2015 11:22
what a fantastic giveaway! of course it would please me to win – i’ve been dying to try this pattern, but i can’t justify the expense at present time. and navy wool crepe is my faaavorite :D
i do read the blog regularly, and i hate to sound like a cheat here… but my favorite sewing space is one you haven’t featured – mine! ;) i love the posts, though… lurking other sewing spaces is very inspiring for me, and gives me lots of ideas for my own little nook, which is always a work in progress :)
emily marie on May 20, 2015 11:22
I really love your sewing spaces posts (they’re definitely a motivating factor to get mine in cute and working order), but I must say this post rivals any I’ve seen! A suuuuuper fantastic giveaway!

Every girl wants to win all of that delicious Vintage style goodness. There is nothing like Vintage glamour and the give away has the whole package! I have only recently discoverd the blog but it is now in my favourites. And sewing spaces reminds me to appreciate my sewing space and inspires me to sew. I have no legitimate excuses not to.
Carrie F on May 20, 2015 11:22
Drool. This whole kit will make my boyfriend drool.
shanitita on May 20, 2015 11:22
Thank you for the opportunity to be able to make the Crepe pattern! And all of the other goodies too! I sadly won’t be able to make it otherwise. Your blog is a joy to read! Thanks again.
Nichole on May 20, 2015 11:22
Really would like this pattern, as there is a “sew along” soon that will use it. I am new to sewing, really loving it and at the same time broke! So, this would be great, and I did see the vintage revlon in walgreens yesterday (as a matter of fact) and I wanted it in the worst way!!! This could quite possibly be the best giveaway I’ve seen;) I’m new to your blog, but already really liking it…..
Karrol / Kiki von Tiki on May 20, 2015 11:22
A giveaway is wonderful, but your blog is a gift I love to get everyday! (Don’t get me wrong, I’d still love to win ;) )
Sewing spaces was so interesting. Since I’ve not had one in 10 years, I live vicariously through others. I sew in a corner of my bedroom.
What I especially love are your Channeling Catherine posts… ah, such style!
Susan on May 20, 2015 11:22
I’d love to win this pattern! Thanks for the chance.
Mandy on May 20, 2015 11:22
I love seeing all the sewing spaces! It inspires me to finish the basement in my condo so I can have a dedicated sewing space, and not just my dining room table.
ruth on May 20, 2015 11:22
great looking inside rooms of others. I love watching someone else’s live (and sewingspace)
Kathleen on May 20, 2015 11:22
Please consider me for your giveaway! I’ve been sewing on and off for years, especially when my kids were younger. I want to start sewing clothes for myself, now that my kiddos are older. Project Runway got me motivated to sew, it’s such a relaxing and fun thing to do.
This pattern looks like just the place to start and the fabric is beautiful! Thank you!!!
lauraB on May 20, 2015 11:22
so cool! I just found your website via via from a Google search for sewing spaces. I’m trying to organize my own now, so this is a great place for ideas. Thanks! And great giveaway! :D
Kat White on May 20, 2015 11:22
That pattern is simply gorgeous. I have your blog in my reader and although I always find the vintage patterns interesting it’s the peeks inside other sewing rooms that fascinates me. Some are cute and homey while others are large and drool-worthy sort of like the giveaway. ;)
Kim on May 20, 2015 11:22
I’ve been dying to make a navy blue dress. I love the Crepe pattern too. I love your blog!
mjb on May 20, 2015 11:22
I’d love to win because it’s beautiful fabric, and a beautiful pattern. I love your blog because of your can-do attitude and the lovely way you write about all of the great vintage patterns!
Hope on May 20, 2015 11:22
What an amazing giveaway! I have just recently starting reading blogs about sewing and other crafts. I love the dress pattern! It would be perfect to wear to work and then transition for a night out. So cute. Pick me! (please.)

Katie on May 20, 2015 11:22
What a wonderful giveaway!! I always read sewing spaces…and especially enjoy the pictures! I love to see beautiful, organized work spaces to inspire me…and also not-so-organized spaces to make me feel better :) (Not that there are many of those)
Marissa on May 20, 2015 11:22
yay giveaways! I would love to win…because Sarai’s patterns are fabulous, good fabric is sadly lacking where I live, and I have never worn lipstick. Maybe it’s time.
I found the giveaway because I follow Colette patterns, but now promise to become a regular reader.
Thanks!
Kristin Parker on May 20, 2015 11:22
Im super excited about this giveaway, I’ve been eyeing this pattern for quite some time. Im also excited to discover a new blog, thanks to Colette Patterns posting about this, love it so far :)
Camille Benson on May 20, 2015 11:22
I figured I’d just answer all of the questions posed in the post.
I want to win this contest because I will be meeting – for the first time in real life – the love of my life, whom I have known for seven years. I cannot think of anything more amazing than having a gorgeous, handmade dress to meet him at the airport in. :)
I started reading this blog a couple weeks ago when I found it going through the Colette Patterns blog, and I like it a lot, so it’s gone into my reading list.
I love looking at the sewing spaces bits because they give me a lot of ideas for future spaces, what I do and do not want. :)
Em on May 20, 2015 11:22
Hello!
I am a subscriber to this blog and somewhat of a sewing junkie. I’ve just made 19 vests (every member has one) and 5 costumes for a theather group I’m in (translated webpage: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=sv&sl=sv&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fvera.chalmersspexet.se%2F ).
But I’m not tired yet! I’m on look-out for something to sew for myself at the moment. Colette patterns is one of my favourite homepages. I bought lady grey some months ago, but unfortunally haven’t got the time to actually sew it up. An easy dress would be the perfect pattern to give something to myself after all this sewing for others.
nichole on May 20, 2015 11:22
I just found your blog and it is going directly into my favorites!
McKristie on May 20, 2015 11:22
What I like about your blog – I linked from Colette’s and I have actually just added you to my google reader as the few items I have read I love so far – I have been wanting to learn to sew (always been a dream of mine). As for why I want the give away – I hopefully am getting a sewing machine for Christmas and this would be a great starting point (aside from the curtains I have planned) – Thank you all!
Brooke on May 20, 2015 11:22
I have been drooling over this pattern, and there is a sew-along for it, which makes me want it even more. Crossing fingers and toes and eyes…..
DK on May 20, 2015 11:22
I think the way someone has their workspace set up (no matter what it’s for) says a lot about what they make and how they think. I just love peeking into other people’s minds and spaces. I also like getting ideas about how to better organize my own space.
Paula on May 20, 2015 11:22
Oh, lovely! Want to have that dress, with the sweatheart neckline and in some nice flower pattern. But the real treat would be the pin cushion; my old tomato just retired :( So I would be delighted to replace it with such a beauty
stacy on May 20, 2015 11:22
Where to start as to why I need this pattern? Well, I’m a SAHM with a super casual wardrobe so I need patterns like this to jump start my ‘date nights’ with my husband. Plus it’s easy to sew which means it’s an instant gratification project… my favorite kind Besides that, I am a pattern junkie I love independent designers not to mention that I ADORE Gorgeous Fabrics. I could write more, but I’m sure writing space is limited… so in closure, Pick me!
Amelia Blakeman on May 20, 2015 11:22
I love peeking into other people’s sewing spaces through your blog (Oliver + S + Liesl’s space is an inspiration!) and I love love love Colette’s patterns. I would love to win this so I can wear my sassy new wrap dress, dolled up in classic red lipstick and feel like a bombshell!
KWu on May 20, 2015 11:22
Just like many others, I want to win the pattern for Gertie’s sewalong! I know there’s already a 20% discount available, but this whole giveaway package is amazing.
Carina on May 20, 2015 11:22
Gosh I would love to win this – I’m on a budget at the moment so no new treats like nail varnishes or lipsticks… and only sewing out of my stash, which is lovely but restrictive!
I love the passion that comes across in Sewing Spaces, it inspires and encourages me to get on with my own projects.
Fingers crossed… x
Dulcimer on May 20, 2015 11:22
I love your style; your wit. Haven’t been reading long, but I really like what I see! I’ve been wanting this pattern SOOOO badly ever since it came out but it seems every time I pick up a new project, it’s for a gift! So I’m ready to make something for myself. :)

Your blog is new to me (thank you Collette Patterns) and I’m already hooked! So many of the posts remind me of my grandmother – I grew up in the 50’s and she always had several sewing projects going – but with a funky fun twist that makes it all new. I’m adding you on Facebook.
The pattern is so beautiful and would be awesome in wool crepe – it would drape wonderfully and be so flattering. Pick me please!

Collette Patterns alerted me to your lovely blog and I am subscribing to it now so I can keep up with your posts. The Crepe Collette Pattern would be a great way for me to start sewing clothing for myself. I am reteaching myself how to sew after taking classes in 4H 20 years ago. So far, I’ve mastered a few purse and tote patterns. I’m almost ready for my first dress.

Susan on May 20, 2015 11:22
Oh my. You’re not kidding—some giveaway. I’d love to win because I’m starting back to sewing after, um, a long time. I’ve no job, no money. At all. Everything is lovely but I’m just very excited because of Cherries in the Snow lipstick.
Many years ago (loooong ago), I saved up all my money & bought my mum Cherries in the Snow lipstick & the matching nail lacquer. I looked on her dressing table & she was nearly out of the lipstick, so I thought that would be a good idea. I recall some long walk to the store & choosing the items. She was really pleased. (Which was not her natural state, I’m sorry to say.)
Crepe? Really?
Please random number thingy…I never win. OK, I’ll stop. Whoever receives it has my best wishes. Good luck to everyone.
Cheers.
