Spadea N-1025: Sculptural. Chic. Unusual. Classic. September 6, 2025 03:31

Spadea N-1025 is a favorite pattern of mine. Fell hard for it. First glance. One look. The sculptural lines. The curved darts. The simplicity with just a touch of sass in the sleeves. Designed by Anthony Blotto, who opened his first studio in 1919 and designed through the 1960s. Blotto liked working with woven fabric best. (Raising my hand in agreement here! Yes indeed.) He felt wool, silk and cotton would not betray him.

So. I was surprised to see Elizabeth Taylor wearing a gown with a similar silhouette as she and Paul Newman (What a man. What a man. What a man.) presented the Best Picture Oscar to Silence of the Lambs. In 1992, natch, thirty years later. Blotto's design looks far more current. Timely, and yet timeless. Classic with twist of lime.

This is available at The Blue Gardenia. But, my darlings, you knew that. Didn't you? So saunter over and check it out.
