Bored? No longer. Your sewing room is ready. And you saw the coat. September 13, 2025 19:44

You are listless. Bored. So very. You've planned your spring garden. Lillian's Caseload Peas. Buena Mulatta host peppers. Purple Coban tomatillos. Pinocchio tomatoes. Orange Accordion tomatoes. And some oldies but goodies: Mortgage Lifter tomatoes. Black Cherry tomatoes. Mr. Stripey. And Big Jim peppers.

You've streamed all the British mystery shows you wanted to see on Britbox and Acorn. So many. You know you'll be hungry for more in a month or so. But for now, you're done.  You've even seen Foyle's War, your favorite except for Slow Horses, three times. Yes. Count 'em. Not once. Not twice. But three times.

You've gone back through all the Wordles you've missed. The Spelling Bees. Connections. What's a woman to do?

Of course. Sew. It's been a minute. Or three. Your sewing room is finally set up again, after the rebuild spawned by Hurricane Helena.  And it's about time. Nearly a year. One year, in fact, come September 24. And you'd like yet another new coat. You love sewing coats. Even though, truth be told, it rarely gets that cold in Georgia. Well, there was that doozy of an ice storm back in 2014. 736,000 cubic yards of debris in Richmond County alone. But, really, how often do you need a heavy coat? Not often.  Not in Georgia. But a lightweight one? Now we are talking, grrls. and boys. Loud and clear. Succinct. Articulate. Yes. You can use another one.  You can indeed.

So. Vogue Couturier Design 1297 caught your eye awhile back. At The Blue Gardenia. Designed by Irene Galitzine, no less. She of palazzo pants fame. She who designed for Liz Taylor. Jackie O. Audry Hepburn. Pamela Churchill Harriman. To name but a few bold-faced names. A very few.

The coat has marvelous pockets. Big. Statement-making. Sleek. Timeless. And you'll make it in that luscious wool you saw recently at EOS Fabrics. In Kiwi. That, at least, is what they call it. You think of it as lime sherbet. Luscious. Absolutely.

And there's also a suit . . . Oh, sewing. Again. At last.
