As crabby as Mr. Burns but not as cunning August 13, 2008 19:13 3 Comments
Violins, please start. Right now. Do not delay.
Today was one of those days. I wanted to put my hands over my face and scream, scream, scream, scream. Scream. Loud. Very, very loud.
May I be one of those bloggers with the perfect life, the perfect house, the perfect lawn? With the scrupulously clean floors, the artfully arranged pillows, and the always camera ready dogs? One of those bloggers who believes everything happens for a reason. That things always work out for the best. A regular Pollyanna with a home suitable for Elle Decor's persnickety editors. Please. I'm asking very nicely. That's what I want, and I really would be most grateful to get it before Christmas. I don't even need fancy gift wrap.
Thank you.
I exaggerated. A tad. A wee tad. I have the camera ready doggies. And they are a joy. Really.

I aspire to be one of those bloggers, and have discovered the next best thing: as I am often more in the mood to post when all is tidy (as my friend says, you have to nest before you can lay an egg), I take photos THEN, making it mystically appear AS THOUGH I have it together, when in fact right this second (while my husband is out of town for a week), my sink is FULL of dirty dishes, the diaper pail needs to be emptied despite the fact that I forgot to roll the garbage can to the curb this morning, and I’m reading YOUR blog while eating ice cream. Reality: not as pretty. Perhaps you, too, should reach for the stars of illusion…

Me, too, sister. ME TOO.

It’s so easy for bloggers to appear perfect when they have complete editorial control. I definitely have bad days in Buenos Aires but I just can’t bring myself to post on them. There are days I make lots of great food and eat it all before I can set up a photography session.
Chin up! : )
