Sewing spaces: I promised a nifty giveaway, and I am delivering. October 5, 2010 19:10 41 Comments
So. I promised you another giveaway. And it is one fabulous giveaway, if I do say so myself. And, of course, I like to toot my own horn — occasionally — and I'm saying it. So there.
This one is inspired by The Cupcake Goddess. You may recall that in the Sewing Space featuring her, the lovely Ms. S. recommended a good reference book. Her go-to book of choice is Vogue Sewing. So. Yes. One lucky entrant will win the book. But wait! Yes, do. Because there's more. Really. That same lucky winner will also get a pin cushion made by Sunni. In fact, the very one shown above. Is it cute? Is it classy? Is it marvelous? Yes. Yes. Yes! Absolutely.
So. Here are the rules: To be entered into the contest, you must a) leave a well-turned comment about Sewing Spaces, Vogue Sewing or the pin cushion; b) you must leave said comment by October 10, 3:30 pm PDT. It's that simple. It's that easy.
And if you cannot wait until the giveaway ends to get your peachy pin cushion, then visit Sunni's site. You won't be disappointed.

I keep coming back to your blog for the Sewing Spaces posts. Have seen the beautiful clothes that the featured sewists have sewn in their blogs so it was interesting to see their personal sewing spaces and their takes on them. To me, whether it was the colours, the lighting, the style or the reflection, the spaces seemed to bear the same personality as the creativity that came out of them. It is nice to see clothes being personal again.
Reading the posts, I postponed my serger dreams once again and settled for a really good pair of scissors first in my own space. That’s me being practical.
Carmi on May 20, 2015 12:20
I read your blog everytime something is posted. I love to see others Sewing Spaces, I get ideas and learn to live within my confines of space, just a little more organized.
Patty on May 20, 2015 12:20
I love, love, LOVE reading the sewing space posts! I’m a voyeur and love all design-related stuff, so seeing sewing spaces is an awesome mix of my two favorite hobbies! Sewing and, um, decorating (ugh, don’t like that word!)
I was so inspired, I (with my husband’s assistance!)put together a sewing space in our guest bedroom(http://thesnugbug.blogspot.com/2010/09/weekend-edition-house-and-garden-post_25.html) …right before you featured Sarai’s space! It was fun to show my hubby the pictures from the sewing space posts while we were plotting! My favorite parts are the spaces where there’s shelves of fabric, neatly folded and organized by color. Oh, if only we had the room (and no basset hound infecting everything with her fur and flying slobber!) Also, I can’t stop thinking about a black and white polka dot ironing board cover!
Yay for cupcake goddess’ pinchushions!

I’m enjoying reading about all the different sewing spaces. I have finally decided to stop sewing on the dining room table and turn my spare bedroom into a proper sewing space. ~Love the Pin Cushion. Looks so Vogue!
Ange on May 20, 2015 12:20
I have been checking in on all your Sewing Space posts. It is fascinating to get an insight into how different sewists arrange their spaces. And what they prioritise in the space available to them.
JJ on May 20, 2015 12:20
I follow you from my blog so that I never miss a post. So inspiring, and such a great giveaway.
Samina on May 20, 2015 12:20
I’ve really enjoyed your sewing spaces series. I’ve picked up a ton of great ideas & a serious case of envy-itis!. I think I’ve got an ancient copy of the Vogue Sewing Book at home. Has it been updated? I bought it 20+ years ago when I first wanted to learn how to sew. I’m back into it after a long hiatus & having fun referencing my old sewing books & seeing that they’re all still relevant today. Incidentally, I also have an old spiral bound copy of the Simplicity Book that Erica Butler mentioned.

I just want to say that I LOVE your Sewing Spaces posts. I discovered your blog through this feature, and I’ve in turn been able to discover so many other great sewing blogs because of it. Plus, who doesn’t like to peek into the lives of others every now and then?
I’m fairly new to the sewing world, and very tight on money so I haven’t been able to build up a reference collection yet. (Actually, my collection is non-existent, and my public library isn’t big on sewing books…) so I would LOVE to win this giveaway! Oh, I also don’t have a pincushion!! I’m crossing my fingers!
Steph on May 20, 2015 12:20
Cute pincushion, love the dots. I keep coming back to see the different spaces, its a compulsion now!
Meredith P on May 20, 2015 12:20
I love the Sewing Spaces series. Not only have I been able to glimpse into creative areas belonging to the bloggers I already follow, I’ve found new ones through this series. And we all LOVE to check out each others spaces! It’s just a tiny bit disappointing how tidy they all are. Just sayin’…
Leslie on May 20, 2015 12:20
That Vogue sewing book has been on my amazon.com wishlist ever since I saw it on Gertie’s new blog for better sewing. The fact that the Cupcake Goddess loves it too makes me want it all the more. Also, that pin cushion is seriously Adorable.
Amy on May 20, 2015 12:20
the Sewing Spaces posts are the best! I love to see eveyone’s sewing space as i am working on organizing my own. I am also in desperate need of a good sewing book! And Sunni is just the bee’s knees!
Laura on May 20, 2015 12:20
I really love seeing the sewing spaces of so many of my favorite sewists! Thank you for thinking of such a compelling feature. And the only thing better than the Vogue sewing book would be the cutest tomato pincushions in the world!
Elizabeth on May 20, 2015 12:20
I am currently working on decorating my sewing space to make it the most creative environment as possible and there are so many great ideas here…One that I am thinking of is getting some of Amy Butler’s new wallpaper! And as for the vogue sewing…well I would love to learn some great techniques and ideas from that book, I love learning how to do new things and seeing how they turn out! Thanks for the great giveaway!
purl2tog on May 20, 2015 12:20
I love Sunni’s pincushions! I made my own pincushion but it was not as cute as the ones Sunni makes. I love them!
haruna on May 20, 2015 12:20
what an awesome giveaway!
I wish I had a sewing room, an actual ‘room’! my craft/sewing ‘corner’ evolved into ‘closet’ for the past years, but it still isn’t enough space! I wish I had my own studio!!
Love Sunni’s pincushion :) the one I’ve been using is from my elementary school sewing class. as much as I am attach to it, it would be nice to own a new CUTE pincushion :)
thanks for hosting the giveaway!

I’ve only just learned of sewing spaces but it’s fun to be able to see the ins and outs of someone else’s work space and little things that work for them. I’m almost done my own space and it’s inspiring to see how much other sewists love their space as much as I love mine.
Now as far as Vogue Sewing goes, that’s something I’ve been wanting to pick up but just haven’t been able to talk myself into yet. Lame right? Yah, I think so too.
Emily on May 20, 2015 12:20
That is the classiest pincushion. It’s sure to elevate the winner’s sewing room and motivate more sewing.
Katherine on May 20, 2015 12:20
Sewing blogs are so inspiriational. I made myself a pincushion earlier this year and it makes me smile every time I use it. Really, I could do with a few more so I would love to win this one. Many thanks.
frk.bustad on May 20, 2015 12:20
Sewing spaces are very inspiring! Having the awesome Cupcake Goddess contribute to my sewing space with her lovely pin cushion, would be wonderful! And who wouldn’t want the Vogue sewing book if it wasn’t in her possession already..? I don’t have it, please count me in for the giveaway!
Suzie on May 20, 2015 12:20
Oh, thank you for such a lovely giveaway! So much to love: LOVE your inspiring posts on sewing spaces; LOVE to get my hands on the Vouge sewing book; and LOVE Sunni’s pin cushion!!!!

I am a complete newbie, so I’m dying to get my hands on a copy of Vogue Sewing! My sewing space is currently my dining room table…maybe one day I’ll have one as beautiful (and tidy) as the ones you feature!

D@FrenchCollections on May 20, 2015 12:20
OMG OMG, this pin cushion is soooo cute ! Actually I was on the Cupcake Goddess etsy shop on monday looking at her beautifully made sewing accessories and wondering if I wanted to buy one… I really enjoy the sewing spaces post, I infortunately sew in my bedroom (only place where I could fit my big industrial singer) and I’m so jealous (but inspired) of those beautiful sewing spaces !!
RB on May 20, 2015 12:20
The Sewing Spaces posts are fascinating. I’m amazed by their finished garments, and I’m even more intrigued by where and how they create them (in the basement? on the kitchen table? using how many machines?). They inspire me to take my sewing space more seriously and make it a great place to work.
Leslie on May 20, 2015 12:20
That pincushion is adorable! I only have the standard red tomato, and it makes me feel like such a conformist =P I love the sewing places- it gives me some good ideas for dealing with my own tiny space!
ChipmunksCorner on May 20, 2015 12:20
Lovely!!! I just love the elegance of the pincushion and the manual surely offers much sewing wisdom.
Thank you for hosting this givaway and I am so looking forward to your future posts.
BSA on May 20, 2015 12:20
I’m still a beginner, and I have been planning to get my hands on a copy of “Vogue Sewing.” Especially since I’ve read about it on Sunni’s blog!
Abigail Buzbee on May 20, 2015 12:20
Well, I know everyone has said it already, but I love the Sewing Spaces posts! There is something very inspirational about seeing the personal spaces of someone who enjoys the same passions as you, like sewing and design.
And that pin cushion is ADORABLE!!!
Morgan on May 20, 2015 12:20
Love the Sewing Spaces series, but love that pincushion even more! And being a self-taught seamstress I can’t even imagine what that book could teach me!
blackberry on May 20, 2015 12:20
I’d like to indulge my penchant for handmade-but-not-made-by-me gifts to acquire the pincushion for my daughter. She is starting to take an interest in sewing and crafting. Thank you.
Kyla on May 20, 2015 12:20
Yes, like many I have been peeking in on your site on sewing spaces. I’m excited and happy to say soon I’ll be moving into a new home with my own sewing and art studio, so perhaps when that comes to pass I will one day post pictures on my blog. Anyway I’ve found everyone’s sewing spaces very inspiring and would love a chance to win the book or pin cushion.
Kyla on May 20, 2015 12:20
I’d love a chance to win the pin cushion or the book. I’ve been looking at this site for sometime and have really enjoyed looking at others sewing spaces.

I love to look at all the sewing spaces….and that cupcake pin cushion wants to come live at my house.
:)

I have only recently organized a blog reader so now I can more regularly visit bluegardenia. I enjoy reading about others’ sewing spaces—It inspires me to organize my own in a more productive manner. I have a mish mash currently. Anyway, thanks for the good reads and inspiration. I bet the gardenia smells wonderful!
Linda on May 20, 2015 12:20
I am enjoying visiting all of the sewing spaces; they really reflect the personality and style of the sewists! Please enter me in the cupcake goddess giveaway; I love the pincushion!!
Lisette M on May 20, 2015 12:20
I’m enjoying very much reading about the sewing spaces. I would love the Vogue book because it is a classic and I don’t have it in my library. Thanks for such a great giveaway!
Kathy Ann on May 20, 2015 12:20
I love coming to this blog for inspiration (I found it via the Sewing is Hard blog). I am currently redecorating my art space using vintage sewing notions and assorted finds from my local antique shop. I started sewing many years ago and was forced to stop for a few years while undergoing treatment for breast cancer at 26. Well – I’m cancer free now and finally back to my old self – so I’ve set up my vintage Singer sewing machine, my 1940’s dress form, and have resized several of my vintage patterns – all I need now is an amazing pin cushion and a handy reference guide to bring out my inner seamstress. I want to hear the hum of my machine, laugh when my cats play with the threads and fabric scraps, and continue to live each of the days I have been blessed with to the max. Thank you again for all your ideas and information!
Linda Kelly on May 20, 2015 12:20
The pin cushion is adorable! I enjoy looking at sewing spaces from others, it gives me a lot of ideas for my own, and how to better organize it.
Kaci on May 20, 2015 12:20
I’ve been sewing since January and I still don’t have a pincushion :( I want this one!!
SueMarie on May 20, 2015 12:20
Love the pincushion! All of the Cupcake Goddess’s accessories are super cute. And I’ve loved see all the sewing rooms/spaces. I’m amazed at how tidy everyone is. I have a little room devoted to sewing, but it is constantly a disaster area. Actually, having a door I can close only enables my messy messy ways.
